Artwork Overview

Preparing Artworks!

In order to provide efficient speed of service, we require customers to follow the below requirements when it comes to submitting artworks. Please talk through with your designer before starting your project; and when at the final phase of submitting artworks to Blu-Zone. We encourage designers to talk to Blu-Zone representatives if they have questions, and we will be happy to discuss any concerns designers or yourself may have. When requirements below are not met, the production and lead-time may be delayed. Please feel free to contact us at 604-505-1856 or info@bluzonepackaging.com for design or artwork questions.

Artwork Details |

  • Layers: Leave the layers intact; do not flatten layers.
  • Text: Convert all text to outlines/paths. This avoids font issues. Please use single colour or assign a PMS spot colour for font size smaller than 12 point.
  • Images: Pictures and graphics (photographs) need to be 300 dots per inch (dpi). This gives good, crisp graphics. Anything less shows poor picture quality. Make sure linked images are embedded, or included when uploading.
  • Colours: All photos must be converted to CMYK. Pantone spot colors from the "Pantone Formula Guide SOLID COATED" may also be used. Don't trust the colours you see on your screen or printer. If you want us to match CMYK colours, please provide us a colour reference (a printout or a sample). Please note that matching might not be 100% accurate.
  • Opaque Base: Create a layer showing areas to be printed opaque white. If white is to be double hit, create separate layer for each one.
  • Transparent Window: Create a layer for windows, using 15% black and titled “WINDOW”.
  • Bleed: Allow 1.5mm (1/16") solid bleed on the edges. A "bleed" is needed when the colours on the opposite sides (left/right, top/bottom) are different, or if gradual colours are used through the entire bag. Because the film can move up to 1mm (1/32") when being slit, this guards against showing a thin area of different colour/image on the edge.
  • Matte/Varnish Finish: Please create a separate layer to indicate matte finished area and leave 1mm matte lacquer tolerance in any direction.
  • Spelling & Content: Watch for typos before submission. Please make sure the nutrition fact table and other details follow government requirements.
